Yukon Weather
Our weather is quite variable. The impact of the dramatic variation in
energy from the sun, typical as you approach the polar regions of the
planet, creates significant differences between the dark, cold, days of
winter and the long, warmer, days of summer. The southern Yukon, where
Whitehorse is located, is also influenced by coastal air masses that
occasionally move in from the Pacific Ocean and bring with them either
cool, damp, weather in the summer, or moist, mild, air in the
winter. Dawson City, located in the central Yukon, is more
continental in its weather. Dawson City has colder extremes in the
winter and warmer temperatures in the summer as well.
