Carbon offsetting is a financial exchange whereby a person can reduce their carbon emissions footprint by purchasing carbon emission credits from a carbon offsets company. This company then invests the capital into clean energy projects, or carbon-capture projects, which reduce carbon emissions ( or capture carbon) in an amount equal to the credits purchased. It is impossible to live a carbon-neutral existence, but we can choose to use our purchasing power to support a greener tomorrow. - For your convenience, we have calculated the approximate cost to carbon offset the transportation involved in your trip and have listed this amount on each trip details page. A lower "Carbon Offset Fee" is associated with an itinerary that consumes less fossil fuels.
- Included in our "Carbon Offset Fee" is not only offsets for emissions directly related to transporting our clients during their trip, but also transportation emissions created by Cabin Fever Adventures employees during preparation for our trips.
- Cabin Fever Adventures purchases carbon offsets quarterly, based on our actual fuel consumption used in company vehicles for your transportation, and during air charters to our remote put-ins by float plane and helicopter.
- Supporting Your Decision to Carbon Offset Your Trip with Monetary Discounts
- Cabin Fever Adventures encourages our clients to carbon offset their own flights to the Yukon with direct economic compensation. If you forward us your receipt showing proof that you have purchased carbon offsets for your flights*, we will provide you with a discount on your trip (excluding airfare or accommodations upgrades) of up to 50% of the cost of carbon offsetting your flights* to the Yukon, or 4% of the cost of your trip, (excluding airfare or accommodations upgrades) or a maximum value of $125/person, whichever is the least value.
