Wind River Attributes:
- Travels north of the Arctic Circle if you follow it all the way to Fort McPherson
- Is comparable in beauty to the Hart, Bonnet Plume or Snake, but has the least difficult white water of the Peel River tributaries
- Exciting class II white water is excellent for intermediate paddlers, yet can be paddled by beginners if pared with a more skilled partner
- Multi-day hiking accessible from the upper portions of the river
- The most travelled River of the Peel River drainage ( although still maintains excellent wilderness character )
- No portaging required on this route ( sometimes 1 portage required depending on water level)
- Includes a scenic flight over the Wernecke Mountains to McClusky Lake
The Wind River is an Ideal Choice For:
- Intermediate paddlers ( or beginners travelling with more experienced paddlers), searching for a full wilderness experience with sufficient excitement provided by class II white water
- Those looking for excellent day-hiking or multi-day backpacking options from the river
