Working for Cabin Fever Adventures
Lead Guides:
Are you a skilled and experienced wilderness guide looking for a fresh new opportunity? At Cabin Fever Adventures we value our guides and provide them with a high-quality working environment. The owners of Cabin Fever Adventures
are guides first and owners second, so we run or business from the
perspective of keeping our guides happy. We believe that staff
who feel appreciated create clients who appreciate Cabin Fever Adventures.
We pay our guides the best rates in the Yukon, and in return expect
dedicated, professional wilderness services second to none. We
are looking for experienced guides with extensive guiding experience in
one, or more of the skill areas we offer. If you are from
somewhere other than the Yukon and want to come work for Cabin Fever Adventures,
we would expect you to make considerable personal effort to learn the
history, flora and fauna of the Yukon, in order to compliment the
strong technical skills that you possess. We are interested
in your resume if you have strong guiding experience in any of the following
disciplines:
- White water rivers trips
- Multi-day sea kayaking trips
- Multi-day unsupported backpacking trips
- Mountain biking or cycle touring
- Fly fishing
- Institutional trip leading or leadership instruction
- Sport fishing or powerboat captaining
Besides the hard-skills listed above we expect all of our lead guides to be:
- Trained in first-aid to the Wilderness Advanced First Aid level (WAFA) or higher (WFR prefered)
- Have excellent meal preparation and food provisioning skills
- Have excellent natural history interpretive skills
- Additional languages are an asset ( German, French etc.)
Support Guides:
We also hire motivated individuals who can support our lead guides in the field, assist with base-camp operations and continue to develop towards becoming lead guides.
Base-Camp Apprentices:
This position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated person interested in getting involved in the wilderness tourism industry. Duties will include helping pack-out trips, maintenance of our gear and facilities, and assisting the Cabin Fever Adventures team as needed. Meals and accommodation included as well as access to canoes, kayaks and fishing gear. We try to get our apprentices out on at least one wilderness trip during the season.
