Environmental Efforts
In summer 2010 we are continuing to move forward with our environmental efforts.
- This is our first season of purchasing carbon offsets for emissions created in our company vehicles.
- We are going to raises chickens and produce eggs for our staff to eat while at the base-camp.
- We are going to construct at our base a prototype of an outdoor convective refrigerator which uses water from our lake, which using natural siphoning runs through a fabric that surrounds an aluminum box that is in turn cooled by the endothermic ( heat consuming) process of water evaporation.
- We have purchased portable aluminum latrines and will start sending them on Yukon River and Big Salmon River Trips, because these corridors are becoming increasingly busier.
Sustainability Award for Cabin Fever Adventures!
Cabin Fever Adventures has been awarded the Yukon Tourism Industry Association's Sustainability Leadership In Tourism Award. It is nice to be recognized for the efforts we are making to run our company in a more sustainable fashion.
