Snafu Lake Angling Adventure> Detailed Itinerary

Snafu Lake is a favourite among Yukon anglers, boasting some of the densest fish populations in the territory. Pike and grayling are abundant and with use of down-riggers we can target lake trout as well.   Snafu Lake is a chain of smaller interconnected lakes, creeks and small ponds, creating the widest variety of fishing terrain available anywhere in the Yukon, as well as good fishing on days when the typical larger mountain lakes of the Yukon would be unpleasantly rough.

Snafu Lake Angling Adventure

After picking you up at a convenient location in Whitehorse and a short stop to purchase a fishing license, we depart Whitehorse and travel southeast along the famous Alaska highway, passing scenic views of Marsh Lake, White Mountain and Little Atlin Lake.  Our drive will take approximately 1.5 hours.  After launching our fishing boat on Snafu Lake, we will drop our lines and work the deeper water for lake trout using down-riggers and or cast into the shallows in search of northern pike on the prowl.   The mouth of an in-flowing creek is an excellent location to catch an arctic grayling or in the shallow channels that connect sections of the lake.  Hopefully before lunch we will have a fish or two to cook over a lake-side fire to compliment our packed-out lunch. As the day draws to and end we will return to the boat launch with tales of fish caught and those that got away.

If you wish, this package can be upgraded to a full gourmet outdoor barbecue cook-out:

The cookout options also requires group participation as it is quite an undertaking preparing such an awesome meal in the outdoors. Our guides are excellent wilderness chefs, but a few extra helpful-hands make all the difference. You can usually get your guide to recant a few tales of life in the Yukon as they whip up a wilderness feast.
