Snafu Lake Paddle Fishing > Detailed Itinerary

Snafu Lake is one of the Yukon’s favorite fishing lakes. This lake is actually numerous small, interconnected lakes that can be explored for several days by canoe or kayak without ever needing to portage. It is also home to fantastic fishing and being only a little over 2 hours drive from Whitehorse, doesn’t consume half of your vacation on the road. This journey is perfect for someone who wants a short, let long enough wilderness canoe trip with a focus on great fishing.

Note: All meals included in this itinerary are listed as: ( B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner )

Day 0: WHITEHORSE, YUKON

Hopefully you enjoyed your travels and have arrived safely in Whitehorse, the Yukon’s capital city, nestled among the wilderness.
Please arrive in Whitehorse in time for an orientation meeting at 8:30 pm the night before our departure. Guests are responsible for accommodation and meals while in Whitehorse. Whitehorse is a splendid little city and we recommend booking some additional time at either the beginning or the end of your trip to see Whitehorse.  If you  have not had a chance to purchase a Yukon fishing license, you should do so this evening.  Your guides will let you know where they can be purchased.

Please Note:  Often our guests choose to come to the Yukon several days early, or to depart several days after their wilderness vacation.  Therefore we don't include accommodation in Whitehorse in order to provide flexibility for our guests. If you prefer, we can easily arrange your hotel accommodations in Whitehorse and add these details to your itinerary.

Day 1: ( L, D) TRAVEL TO SNAFU LAKE

Cabin Fever Adventures staff will pick you up from your hotels starting at 8:00 am. Participants need to have finished their breakfast by this time. Any final details will be dealt with and we will depart by 9:00 am. Any unnecessary gear or luggage can be left with our staff for lock-up in our secure storage facility. Our drive will take us southeast from Whitehorse along the Alaska Highway with views of Marsh Lake and White Mountain.  Once we arrive to Snafu Lake we will unload our gear, pack the canoe and say goodbye to civilization for the next five days. We will head out on the lake for an afternoon of northern pike, arctic grayling and trout fishing.  We will work the shallows for pike and grayling and also work the edge of deeper water in order to go after trout.  We will spend the evening around our wilderness campfire enjoying good food and even better company.

Day 2 - 3: (B, L, D ) EXPLORE AND FISH THE SNAFU CHAIN OF LAKES BY CANOE

Each day we will travel and explore a new area of Snafu Lake, fishing, canoeing and enjoying wilderness solitude as we go.  At night we set camp and enjoy stories of the day around the fire.

Day 4: (B, L, D) TRAVEL TO WHITEHORSE

In the morning after yet another delicious breakfast in the outdoors, we will paddle our way back to the landing, stopping for a final wilderness lunch before reaching the take-out by late afternoon. We will load up our gear and return of Whitehorse by approximately 6:00 pm. ( Dinner and hotel not included this evening)
