About Us > The Cabin Fever Adventure Story
Cabin Fever Adventures formed in 2008, but the story started much earlier. Dustin Davis began his guiding career in Ontario in 1996 leading canoe trips in Algonquin Provincial Park. Since that time he has lead river trips, sea kayaking trips on Lake Superior, dog sledding trips in the Yukon and Ontario, mountain hiking trips in the Yukon and participated in numerous other varied and diverse outdoor experiences.
Dustin met his wife and co-owner Brook, a fellow canoe guide, while working in Algonquin Park. After working in Algonquin Brook finished her nursing degree while Dustin traveled to the Yukon to guide dog sledding trips. Brook also traveled to the Yukon one summer to participate in a river trip. They were both captivated by the grandeur of the Yukon Wilderness. When Dustin returned to Ontario they got married and moved to Northern Manitoba, where Brook continued her training for Northern nursing and Dustin had his first opportunities to do outdoor programming with First Nation’s youth.
Next the couple moved back to Ontario so that Dustin could attend Queen’s University to obtain his teaching certificate in Outdoor Experiential Education. It was at this time that the couple traveled again to the Yukon to look at a property on Cabin Lake, which they would purchase and move to that spring. The couple spent their first winter at the cabin. At this time Brook officially became a sourdough, having spent her first full winter in the Yukon. Shortly thereafter the couple both had fantastic work opportunities arise farther north in the small Yukon village of Old Crow. Brook became an outpost nurse and Dustin worked at the local school teaching physical education and doing a leadership/fitness project for youth. Brook and Dustin worked in Old Crow for 3 years, during the fall/winter/spring and spent their summers guiding wilderness trips for local Yukon companies.
Now the adventurous couple has returned to life in the southern Yukon living in the scenic community of Carcross with their two young boys. Brook is now the nurse-in-charge at the Carcross nursing station and Dustin works full-time on the business. We immensely enjoy running Cabin Fever Adventures and creating memorable wilderness experiences for our clients. We hope that you will come to the Yukon and be the star of your own role in the Cabin Fever Adventures story.
